The curious thing is that this isn't the case. If you go to his Patreon and look through the updates you'll notice Casual Desires consistently gets more, sometimes double, the likes and usually more comment engagement as well.

I feel forgiving given the steam release of the other game and the work that comes with that, but I cancelled my own sub and don't plan on restarting it until Casual Desires has its next release.
So you're saying it's the other way around on his patreon and CD is more popular there? o_O  We'll see if it's just because of the steam release of rd.
But if he is tired of (making) CD and rather wants to make something else, why not come clean and say that CD will be put on hold until he has enough inspiration / ideas whatever?

Whenever CD continues, I hope there can be a middle-ground relationship-wise. Like, I get the impression that the "romantic relationship" option suggests a monogamous one, as opposed to the open relationship.
But I'd want a closed poly romantic sort of option too - not just "fool around casually with whoever", but a proper relationship with Violet and Luna, for example. I mean, the Connor/Josh dynamic is already a closed poly relationship in itself, so there's definitely room for it with the girls.

Well, there are three choices one of them single, one open relationship and one where she didn't want one at all (?).
Either open-relationship or single will allow for a poly/harem playthrough.
So, we shall see how it plays out. I'm for a poly relationship with Haruka and Luna, plus maybe Violet.

OK. I too get annoyed reading about lack of updates in game threads. But the case here is a bit different. Dev's other game "rebel duet" does get updates where as "casual desires" gets hardly any. That is the problem. If he has more subscribers to his patreon account because of "rebel duet" than because of CD, then they obviously would want more updates for rd and he makes more. I understand that, but I'm not happy about it. :(
I highly doubt that is the case. If it is the case that they do make more because of the other game. I really question peoples tastes. Rebel duet is a much worse game, it's also lazy in comparison. I don't feel any passion from the dev playing that. Every time I see Rebel duel has an update, I just wish it was this game instead. Though maybe with how low effort RD seems to me, maybe that energy would make CD get bad updates as well, who knows. Maybe dev is in a rut.
This game is so much better. Also not sure what people are on about, stop making rebel duet and make more of this is a very valid criticism. This happens every time a dev starts another game before finishing the previous one. The first game nearly always gets abandoned, whenever they gets bored of the other game they will stop that one and make a new one just the same. This dev seems to be in a bubble. their weird take on criticism being hostile and personal attacks, well lets just say it reminds me of a certain twitter mafia.
Though if the dev is in a rut and needs some time to figure this game out and what they want to do. Saying that would be all they needed to do.
I wouldn't complain if that kind of transparency existed.

People's tastes have been making garbage products and people very successful for decades. In this case my guess is that it's a simple matter of genres and tags. RD has a male protagonist, that alone is much more likely to attract a larger audience, and it's an isekai in a fantasy setting.
A lot of people don't seem to notice or care that the writing is atrocious and the sex scenes dull, unsatisfying and generic. There is a fight scene between the first two girls at one point and it made my soul cringe itself out of my body because of the awful dialogue and action.
I don't know how people don't notice this stuff, but they don't. So RD is terrible while getting all the attention and CD actually has decent qualities to it but gets forgotten.

So does CD. The writing is god fucking awful, the game just happens to be cute and relatable anyway. Pretty much every scene is just Rita thinking to herself "Am I gonna do this mildly to horrifically degenerate thing or not?" and her either saying yes or no to herself, que the next scene. There's no real rhyme or reason to it, it's the VN version of an RPGM scene collection game. The dialogue is super flat and robotic too. I like it but that doesn't make it well written.

I thought I'd seen somewhere that CD was getting the next update? I'm also a tad confused as to the popularity because isn't this the bigger game? More likes, views, more ratings (even if RB is rated higher).

Sucks to see this hasn't been updated in nearly 9 months. Hoping the update (if we ever get one) is massive at least.

EDIT: Even their patreon shows that CD is the more popular brand, with more interaction on their posts.

The explanations is hidden in this forum, not just assumptions, but pieces feom rhe dev itself.

Basically CD was not excepted by steam, RD is/will be.
Its a money thing. And it felt for quite a while like dev lost interest int this game and especially its story.

They stated back when they started RD that it won't affect the release times for CD, but most people didn't believe them.
So being frustrated now that it in fact did greatly influence said update times is completely understandable.

I personally enjoy RD to a degree.
The dumb training events with the Suc is annoying, but other than that, it is a nice story in my opinion.
I still can play as a female and aren't forced to see or interact with ugly men.

But that has nothing to do with me being frustrated that one of my favorite games, CD, doesn't get enough work and is just a burned out side project at this point.
It was dishonest, it is unfair against the fans of this game, and they deserve a bad reputation for how they treated their players of CD like an unwanted afterthought.
Even their message about complaints were just defensive nonsense about insults and people attacking them instead of concentrating on the valid points players made over many months.

But at the end of the day, its all about the money, nothing surprising there.
We can just hope that we'll at least get some update in the near future.

Yes, it's not Shakespeare. The dialogues are OK. In any case they do the job. The sex scenes have gotten better since the first one. Longer, more interesting, with better commentary. The girls are likable. I feel it has gone from a slice of life vn to a regular vn. I guess players complained about filler scenes. I actually enjoyed those small scenes depicting her day to day life. :)
I hope we get to see the girls moving in with the MC and more interactions between them. :D Also wasn't Haruka going to Japan? Let them revisit places from their past. It could provide opportunities for their relationship to grow. ;)

Why wouldn't CD be allowed on steam? It doesn't contain any controversial stuff. No incest, no bestiality, no gore, no scat, no bdsm, no underage characters etc.

I get it that when you work on a project for years you need a break or something to get your mind off of it. The excitement isn't there like in the beginning. Maybe a side project will do. Or just some time off. To gather ideas and to get excited about it again. And sometimes you realize you have "moved on" and are in a different mind frame than you were back then and you no longer feel the desire to continue with your old project. That transparency would help here.

That alone makes it several orders of magnitude better than RD, in writing. RD has the protagonists completely failing at being conscious living beings. CD at least has me believe that the characters have basic human intelligence despite the robotic dialogue.
I can't comment on the quality of writing or on the characters in rd. But the characters in CD feel like real people. Even if the writing isn't top notch.

I agree. Through the awkward repetitive dialogue, we slowly but eventually get to the point where the characters have traits and behave accordingly, providing substantive interactions with each other.

I want to also add that the sex scenes in CD are unique and represent different stages of evolution for the characters involved and they have consequences. Sex scenes in RD are literally designed to be repeatable and generic so that they fit whenever the player decides to see them, which has the consequence of making them disconnected from the character's current state and thus meaningless.

This is something which should be spraypainted onto the thread starter page! I´ve been on F95 for quite a bit of time and Iondivvy has turned out to be one of the greater disappointments among Developers. They work diligently to attain the "lofty heights" of devs like Gumdrop, L&P, Aorrta or ICSTOR, to name a few, who reached a level iof infamy rarely finished at.

Indeed. The more experienced the characters get the more daring the sex. I appreciate that this game starts slow. I know that it's not to everyone's liking. You help her discover what she likes and what she doesn't. Does she like to show off? Does she like boys, girls or both? It's your choice.

that's up to steam's scrutinizer if chars look too young or not. dev stating that they are over 18 doesn't mean anything.

Correct, once a steam nazi reviewer gets their hands on your game and says no, it's sadly very hard to get them to change their mind. Sometimes you get one that actually tells you the problem, but mostly it's just based on their feelings and we all know what basing things on feelings does. You end up with garbage decisions. just like the Patreon and CC companies and advertisers crap where they put radicicolous restrictions on what you can and can't do. Illegal stuff, fair enough. Everything else they say you can't do is stupid.
They have a set guideline on steam what you can't have and what you can't do. They don't follow that. They just do whatever they feel like.
Doing stuff like this stifles creativity and makes every game shit. I still think allowing porn games on steam was a mistake and I hope people stop buying them on steam. Porn games will be worse off existing on steam than them not existing on steam. Their restrictions have already proven such, just like Patreon.

Really, not a complaint. Please, don't make me wrong. I woudn't dare in respect of the work of the Game Developer. But... This game would have got a five stars and plus from my side if more animes were included in the scenes. Nevertheless, very very good job ionDivvy and congratulation for that. I really appreciated to play your game and I will follow you very closely. In the end, you got anyway the five stars in my mind ;)
